The Buddha, who was also known as Siddhartha, was a great self-realized soul who discovered that the middle-way is the best path to follow. He had the opportunity to become a king of his clan and family, however he chose to pursue enlightenment for the benefit of all sentient beings, due to the incredible amount of suffering that he saw all around him. So, he dedicated his life to spiritual compassion. The Buddha asked his disciples to chant “OM MANI PADME HUM“, which is a prayer for the liberation of all sentient beings from cyclical material existence and final deliverance to “nirvana” or eternal spiritual peace.

There are many translations for this mantra, depending upon the religious perspective. However, the mantra, in all respects, is complete, as it is a prayer for each and every sentient being that has ever existed or will exist here in the material world.

So, the yoga of Buddha is for us to embody limitless compassion through right action, right thoughts, meditation and prayer, and in this way we elevate ourselves and all sentient beings together, until there is only nirvana, or eternal and everlasting peace.
