Today, many Buddhists from varying traditions are celebrating “Vesak” which is the commemoration of the birth, life, death, and “paranirvana” of Sakyamuni Buddha. There are many different interpretations according to the individual Buddhist tradition about when to celebrate Vesak, but today Buddhists from around the world will be lighting candles, lamps, and incense to pray for world wide peace, the happiness of all living beings, and remembrance of the great teachings that the Buddha left to his disciples and that have become a legacy for humanity in general, especially his teachings of the noble eightfold path. Thank you, Lord Buddha, for your blessed life and teachings.
